Fields of interest
Laser Chemistry & Spectroscopy, Computational Chemistry, Chemistry Education
My experimental research program uses laser spectroscopy coupled with mass spectrometry to investigate the molecular structure of the liquid-vacuum interface and the partitioning of energy as molecules spontaneously evaporate from liquid surfaces. Out latest results are available at J. Phys. Chem. C, 113, 637-643 (2009).
My computational chemistry research uses electronic structure methods to investigate a variety of chemical processes. As an example, we have used ab initio methods to explore the chemistry of using CO2 as a feedstock for acrylate production. Details can be found at Organometallics, 26, 6784-6792 (2007) and J. Organomet. Chem., 693, 2703-2710 (2008).
I am a founder and Director of the Advancing Chemistry by Enhancing Learning in the Laboratory (ACELL) project. Details of the ACELL project can be found at www.acell.chem.usyd.edu.au.
